I love quotes.  My mind isn't good enough for poetry but I can appreciate the wit and wisdom of quotes.  So, I get "Quotes of the Day" and thoroughly enjoy it.  The list owner lets his wife do the quotes on her birthday which is today.  I loved the quotes that she shared and then I noticed there is a link to her website.  Talk about a versatile artist and I love the colors she seems to be drawn to!  If you want to check it out, click on the link below!

Another guinea pig ornament, more house update, treats for "my kids"

Barb Burkard made this and one of each of my family members a few years ago.  It's one of my favorite things.

Crown molding is up, drywalls are now sanded and they are painting the primer today!!!!

Christmas tree & guinea pig ornament

In a previous post (I believe two posts ago) I mentioned a blog where someone made a guinea pig ornament.  Inspired by hers, I made one that resembles Maria:

That's our little piggy.  The ribbon has Merry Christmas on it, but it doesn't show up too well in the photos.

I guess it's been a week ago when a package was delivered.  Inside was this. Intriguing, isn't it?  It turns out my mystery Santa was Kris Henderson!

There was chocolate...

And wonderful candles that she make lovely wraps for and even accompanied by matchbooks that she customized.  It's truly amazing.  One candle would have been great, but three are wonderful!

My son thought I'd never get everything opened as I oohed and ahhhed over the paper she wrapped them in.  I took a few quick photos but it doesn't do them justice at all.:

This one reminds me of poppies...which I love.

Now, here's where we were about a week ago with the addition. 

Actually, now the trim is up as of today and they are starting to cut the two doors through to the master bedroom and dining rooms.  Exciting!

Here is the ornament that I made for Kris.  It's a wooden book form that I painted.  I used clear Stickles for a bit of snow.

Mechanicsville Christmas Parade 2010

You see a little bit of everything at the parade...horses, dogs, scouts, bands, rescue dogs, Civil War reenactment groups to Santa.

The bloodhouds in the parade looked like they were ready for a good search.

Even a visit from the Jolly Old Elf which signals the end of the parade.  Hope you enjoyed a few snapshots from it. :)
