My son likes robins. And sparrows. He's not taken with the flashy blue jays or the brilliant cardinals. I like that. Now, me, I love birds. Pretty much all birds. They each have something interesting or different about them. So, when I ran across some wood bird shapes in Michaels, I had to try painting one.
So, I chose the robin because of Joseph. It turned out fairly well. I'm pleased anyway. It's not exactly like a robin as their beaks are more slender and the tails a bit different but this piece of wood was cut to the shape it was and I had to use shading to give the appearance of a narrower beak. I usually like a challenge. So here's the robin:
Maria the Princess Pig hung out in the studio while I was working on it. After she'd explored a bit, she settled down under a cabinet for a snooze. Apparently it was more exhausting than I realized. Later I saw her sleeping with her head on a ball in her cage. She likes to push it around at times, too. Pretty funny to watch.
Maria says "Happy napping." Have a good day.

Great robin. You are a very talented artist.

Your bird is great. Hopefully it will be a harbinger of an early Spring. I got a little concerned when you said you had a pig in your studio, but then I remembered you had a guinea pig. Whew, that was a relief. LOL

Your bird looks so great. VERY natural looking. I'm sure the princess pig will always rest whenever she feels like it. She sure is a cute blonde!
